CNR Standard #4 Dwelling

The "Four Square" was a popular style of house constructed throughout North America during the early part of 1900's.  This style of home was common in new subdivisions on the outskirts of cities.  The growing popularity of the automobile combined with expanded public transit, meant that people no longer had to live near their work, and cities began to develop outwards.  You may still see older areas in cities where street after street of "four square" houses still stand.  Construction materials included wood, brick, and cement block, or a mixture of these materials.  CNR chose this style as their "Standard Dwelling #4", and it was a common sight system wide during the teens and '20's.  It provided comfortable, modern accommodation for the station agent and his family.  Footprint of completed kit measures 3 1/8" X 3 3/8".
