CNR Double Deck Auto Transporter

Suggested Retail: $34.95

These cars, series 570700-570774, constructed by Canadian Car and Foundry in 1959, were delivered in the maple leaf paint scheme.  With a length of 57', these cars were limited to carrying only six automobiles, thus making them obsolete almost as soon as they were built.   The cars were repainted into various paint schemes and some were used for carrying passenger's automobiles to their destination point.
The first of the passenger services, "Car-Go-Rail" was introduced in 1962, a mere three years after the cars were built.  The cars for this purpose were repainted blue, and carried the "wet noodle" logo.  These cars were used to haul automobiles for transcontinental passengers: the autos were loaded the day previous to the passenger's train's departure, and taken by freight to arrive the day after the passenger did at their destination.
Between July 1966 and January 1967, thirty-nine of the double deck auto transporters were renumbered to 720100--720139, and painted boxcar red with the "wet noodle" logo.
The second passenger service was introduced in 1976 when eight of the auto transporters were re-trucked with high speed passenger trucks, and repainted to match CN's passenger cars.  These cars were renumbered 9500--9507.  This service was added to the Super Continental, and allowed the passenger's automobile to leave and arrive on the same train as the passenger.  This service was called "Auto-With-You".

Kit is a one piece body casting.
